My absolute favorite eye shadow! I've used this everyday, I love it for night time. I even wore it for my wedding day! The texture is super smooth, pigmented and easy to build up, with very little fall out. The color is flattering on everyone I put on. I stocked up when they discontinued this shade, but it's really running low now. So sad that they discontinued this shadow, which is still a mystery to me.

A very very popular product for many ladies on MUA. I am not totally sold on the color as it can be a little too cool on my NC40 skin. The texture -- wow, the texture -- is a buttery, pigmented dream. The packaging is so blah -- plastic cases, really? I'll have to see if i can still make it work as the color itself is stunning.

i got this as a gift, I didn't know this color is very popular.
I got compliments when I wore this, I think it's a very stunning color. SU makes good e/s and lovely colors!
Worth every penny, thought they are quite expensive =P

I can't add much to what everyone else has said but here are some pictures :) I find this shade different to all the other taupes I own (MAC Coco, Subtle, Satin Taupe, French Grey, Moth Brown, Lunasol taupey quad, NARS Kalahari+Bohemian Gold) and I disagree with a reviewer below, I find it very different to MAC Coco. Love it :)
I am NC25 (Studio Fix), C3 (MAC Face & Body), 30 (Chanel), 2 (MUFE Face & Body, winter) & OC02 (Lunasol Intellectual Powder foundation, winter)

This is a cult status taupe eye-shadow. And it's not difficult to understand why. It's such a pretty taupe color. The texture is wonderful, pigmentation is great and so is the staying power. I definitely agree with many other reviewers, the replacement shade (ME 850) is not as beautiful as this one. ME Silver 945 is more metallic and has more depth to it. This can be worn with a variety of other colors. It can be worn as crease color or as an all over wash. I love this color combined with a silver e/s.
I am in love with this gorgeous eye-shadow. I hope they bring this shade back because it's all that and a bag of chips!

*Sigh* I'm late to the party reviewing this, but I must rave in hopes that Shu Uemura brings ME945 back. The texture is like butter, so smooth and pigmented. Almost looks wet on my lids. This shade's replacement, ME850, is pretty but just lacks the same depth. I'm now hoarding three of these and fear the day I run out.

What whas Shu thinking when he discontinued this gem? After months of searching I have finally found a substitute: "drama" by bare escentuals.

ME Silver 945 was a must have by Shu Uemura, no it has been replaced by ME Brown 850 (new formula).
This color is trully amazing, a silver taupe that's perfect for smokey eyes. It is brilliant, the texture is so great, very blendable and very well pigmented. It is the only taupe shade that don't accentuate my brown circles! HG!

$18 (discontinued)
Replacement: Shu Uemura New Pressed Eyeshadow ME Brown 850 ($20)
Shu Uemura shadows in general, are simply brilliant. This particular color was exceptionally beautiful. A rich, truely metallic gunmetal with a taupe base in a formula that gave the eyes a luminous shimmer. Unfortunately, the entire line of shadows are discontinued. Since they last forever and its not a color I used everyday, it will last me awhile.
In comparison to the new ME Brown 850, which is still pretty, but lacks the punch the original color had. You can tell the difference when they're side by side, but if you've never seen the original, you won't be disappointed. Its a bit more gray toned and not as metallic. continued >>

If I had to toss out the entirety of my eye shadow collection, this is the one shade I'd hold onto for dear life. Seriously, it's the perfect color. I got it almost three years ago when I was venturing into wearing makeup for the first time. The MA at the Shu Uemura counter at Lotte Dept Store in Jamshil helped me come up with a few simple looks, and this beautiful rich silvery gray-brown color with the right amount of metallic shimmer was the thing that kicked me into gear. It's very easy to work with, very smooth and very pigmented, and I use just a little bit of it, blended with some light beige for an easy day look, and layer more color onto it for a more dramatic look. I know that it's been discontinued and reformulated, but I'm not worried about getting a replacement, I've barely even made a dent in the one I have now!!! Such a tiny bit goes a long way!

I got the old version ME silver 945 and at first I didn't know how to use this so it just sat on my table and collected dust. But I realized that this shadow looks great wet and paired with a darker shadow. Now I wear this when I go out at night and it looks fabulous!

i cant believe i never got round to reviewing this. so now that its discontinued, the new replacement shade (me brown 850) is similar but i feel that its not as complex. texture varies a little as well.
also - if you have problems wearing this due to the plum tones, a brown version of this shade would be me brown 855.
hope the swatches help.

I would never get this lovely color if not MUA! Too bad they changed the formula now but lucky I got backup.
On me it is a lovely taupe color and can mix with most of the lighter e/s base.
But they don't really last that well on well, w/o UDPP forget it they are gone under 1 hour.

this is definitely different than me850. i was a lil late in ordering the 945... thought about it for several months and went for vacation without the computer and mua, came back to civlization and found out it was discontinued and out of stock everywhere. needless to say, i was quite sad and pissed off at myself for not ordering it sooner and got me850 instead. then a very generous muaer listed it for sale on a different site for $5!!!! it was a miracle, like it was really meant to be mine :) so now i have both and will compare the differences since the color of 945 has been described to death. i agree that the 850 is not as "wet" in texture and that it is not as complex, but it is still quite buildable. i actually prefer the 850 for daytime and 945 for night.

It's a pretty color, but I had to layer a bunch of times to get the color to show up on me. A little too shimmery for my taste, but I'll continue to use for smoky night eyes.

Truly the most versatile and beautiful neutral shimmery silvery taupe eye shadow shade. The color is extremely exceptional and unique. Excellent texture, pigmentation, blendability, and lasting power. ♥ (HK$110) continued >>

my friend wears this shadow and it looks BEAUTIFUL on her, but i don't really love the color on me. it makes my eyes look to heavy, in my opinion. i do, however, really love the qualtiy. highly pigmented and very smooth application. blends well, too. i'd definitely buy another shu uemura shadow but probably not this color again. it's a nice color but i feel like it makes my eyes look drab and muddy. :(

Ok so I might be shot for this, but I was finally able to get this on ebay (without paying an arm and a leg). Due to this shadow being hyped up SOO MUCH I was expecting this MIRACLE shadow which unfortunately no shadow can live up to so of course I was kinda let down, but I'm going to try to review this as if I hadn't read the reviews..... First off why is it called Silver? Its a taupe brown with silver and plum weaved through it. I didn't feel it went on as smooth and "wet" as some people have said ( I find MAC pigments and veluxe pearls are softer) so I took one lippie off for that. However the color is baeutiful and made my green eyes looks great and yes you do look and feel sexy with this as an all over wash. I think it is very comparible color wise to MAC Coco, Satin Taupe and Chanel Vega, however if you are able to get this at a decent price (I paid $28, it retails at $20) then do get it, if for nothing else than the color and prestige of owning it. I haven't seen it's replacement (ME Brown 850 I believe) in person but I have seen swatches next to each other and they are identical to me so you can also just buy that one because if you haven't already tried ME Silver 945 then you won't be able to know any difference. Over-all I am happy with this shadow, however if I was one of the people paying $40 & $50 on ebay for it I would probably have been dissappointed because I don't think its worth that much. All in all a great shadow though. ****EDITED**** I have been using this shadow EVERYDAY! I LOVE what it does for my eyes! Maybe I just had to get past the top layer because now I see what people mean when they say it's super soft and wet like! Changed my lippies to 5!! Fantastic shadow!!! Still haven't seen the replacement yet but I'm definitley hooked! A very unique shadow! continued >>

I don't know what else I can add that hasn't been said already about this wonderful product. ME Silver 945 is the most beautiful, versatile, and high quality e/s I have in my +100 e/s collection. The color is silvery taupe on me - can be applied sheerly for a wet look on the lids or more heavily for look at me eyes. The pigmentation, blendability, and application is superb. No fading and no creasing on me, I don't even a need a base to bring out this beauty. I can't ask for a more perfect eyeshadow.
